Express Yourself comes as a compressed HyperCard 2.1 stack. The compressed file is named ╥Express Yourself.sea╙.
Simply double click the ╥.sea╙ file and a dialog box will prompt you to install the program on your hard drive.
The program requires HyperCard 2.1 and System 6.05 or higher. If you don╒t have these, ask your Apple dealer.
Once Express Yourself expands onto your hard drive, it grows to a minimum size of 885K. If you have a Mac with 800K-only floppy drives, you will be able to fit only the original compressed file onto another 800K disk to make a backup copy or to share with a friend.
To make a copy onto an 800K floppy disk, drag the compressed ╥.sea╙ file to your hard drive and then copy it back to another 800K floppy.
Express Yourself will run in a minimum HyperCard partition of 800K of memory (RAM) under System 6 with Multifinder or System 7. It is recommended that you set a minimum partition of 1 megabyte for HyperCard 2.1
To set the HyperCard partition size, select the HyperCard program icon in the Finder and choose ╥Get Info╙ from the File menu. A window will pop up with a box indicating where to set the memory (partition) size.
On a 1 megabyte Mac Plus, Mac SE or Mac Classic, do not run Multifinder. You must make sure to run a minimum system configuration in order to have enough memory (RAM) for this program to run. You must have at least 815K of RAM available for HyperCard and Express Yourself on a 1 megabyte (1042K of RAM) Mac.
You can check the size of your system by choosing the ╥About the Finder╔╙ or ╥About this Macintosh╔╙ under the Apple menu. An information box will indicate how your memory is used. A system capable of running Express Yourself on a 1 megabyte Mac should occupy no more than 215K or so.
You may need to trim down various system additions which use up memory. Make sure to run only a minimum set of desk accessories and standard HyperCard fonts. Remove any extra DA╒s, fonts, INITS, Startup files, Control Panels or Extensions. To trim down your system size on a 1 megabyte Mac, consult your user manual or reinstall the system from Apple System Install disks. To reinstall a fresh system, follow the installer instructions and choose ╥minimum╙ configuration for your model of Macintosh.
